London Fashion Week So Far...
17:14Here is a quick round up of some of my favourite runway shows from the first three days of London Fashion Week...
Paul Costelloe's Spring/Summer 2011 collection is full of flirty dresses and tulip and petal shaped skirts. These girly dresses were teamed with biker jackets and waistcoats to give them an edge.
These looks are all from Mary Katrantzou's Spring/Summer 2011 collection. This show was aptly named C'est Ci Nes Pas Une Chambre, translated This Is Not A Room. I'm not sure how wearable this collection is but I absolutely love the idea behind it. Dresses were covered in bold prints of various rooms, necklaces came in the form of chandeliers and skirts were shaped like lampshades.
This Julien Macdonald Spring/Summer 2011 show was one of my favourites of the first few days of London Fashion Week. Models wore romantic dresses made in pale chiffon and lace with ditsy floral patterns. Dresses like this is what summer is all about to me.
These looks are from House of Holland's Spring/Summer 2011 collection. There was a hint of the western theme here, that was first seen last week at Ralph Lauren's show in New York, with the use of fringing and this playsuit with leather stars dotted about it. I am usually a fan of Henry Holland but, if I'm being honest, I have to say this collection is not one of my favourites but I do like the brocade style palm print used throughout the collection.
Dresses, skirts, shirts and jackets were adorned with pretty florals and calligraphy prints at Basso and Brooke's Spring/Summer 2011 runway show. On paper, for me, calligraphy prints wouldn't seem to work but seeing it here it adds an interesting twist to summer prints and has an air of romance to it.
